Thimphu City – One Day Tour

1. Buddha Dordenma Statue/ Kuensel Phodrang: Begin your day with a visit to the majestic Buddha Dordenma/statue overlooking the valley. Set atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang, the site offers panoramic views of Thimphu city.
2. Memorial Chorten/Stupa: Next stop by the National Memorial Chorten, a spiritual hub where locals circumambulate and offer prayers.
3. Takin Preserve:Stop by the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal, the takin a quirky goat-antelope species found only in the Himalayas.
4. Tashichho Dzong: A short drive to Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the government and the monastic body. With its beautiful architecture and manicured gardens, it’s a must visit.
5. Folk Heritage Museum & Textile Museum: Explore Bhutanese history and traditions at the Folk Heritage Museum and admire the art of weaving at the Textile Museum nearby.Stroll through Craft Bazaar the Handicrafts Bazaar for Bhutanese textiles, thangkas and woodwork.

With just a day in Thimphu, you’ll get a taste of Bhutan’s charm serenity, spirituality and simplicity wrapped in scenic beauty. For a deeper experience staying longer is always recommended but even a single day here is unforgettable.
Tiger’s Nest/Taktsang Monastery – One Day Tour
One of the most iconic landmarks of Bhutan, Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a breathtaking destination both spiritually and scenically. Perched dramatically on the cliffside at 3,120 meters (10,240 feet) above sea level this sacred monastery is a highlight for anyone visiting Bhutan.
Start early from Paro town with a short drive (approximately 25 minutes) to the base of the hike where the adventure begins. Dress comfortably in layers, wear good hiking shoes and carry water and light snacks.
The hike takes around 3 to 4 hours (one way) depending on your pace. The trail ascends steadily through pine forests draped with prayer flags offering serene surroundings and occasional glimpses of the monastery clinging to the cliffs above.
Stop at Cafeteria/Viewpoint (Halfway Point) where many hikers rest, enjoy tea or light refreshments and soak in the magnificent view of the monastery.
Upon reaching the top, you’ll cross a small bridge and climb a final set of stone steps to reach Paro Taktsang. Spend some quiet time inside the monastery soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and if permitted light a butter lamp for blessings.
The walk back down usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Going downhill is easier but can be slippery so tread carefully. Lunch at Base or Paro Town and enjoy lunch at a traditional Bhutanese restaurant either near the base or back in Paro town.

Punakha Day Tour
Punakha the old capital of Bhutan is a picturesque valley known for its subtropical climate, lush rice fields and timeless architecture. Start your journey early for the 2 hour drive to Punakha. Stop at Dochula Pass offers stunning views of the eastern Himalayas (on clear days). Take time to walk among the 108 Chortens/stupa a serene site that blends beauty and reverence.Continue to Punakha Valley as the road descends into the warmer Punakha valley notice the changing landscape—from alpine forests to subtropical vegetation.
1. Visit Punakha Dzong : Bhutan’s most beautiful dzong(Palace of Great Happiness) sits at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Built in 1637, it served as the capital of Bhutan for over 300 years and remains a key religious and administrative center.
2. Chimi Lhakhang/Fertility Temple: Take a gentle 30-minute walk through rice fields and traditional houses to reach Chimi Lhakhang the temple of the "Divine Madman" Lama Drukpa Kunley. Known for its quirky history and fertility blessings it’s both humorous and deeply spiritual.
3. Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten Hike: Short hike (approx. 45 mins one way) to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten a stunning stupa built for world peace. It offers panoramic views of the Punakha Valley from the top.
4. Iron Suspension Bridge : If time and energy permit take a short walk to the Punakha Suspension Bridge one of the longest iron suspension bridges in Bhutan. Stretching across the Pho Chhu River it offers a thrilling experience and a perfect spot for scenic photographs with the dzong and valley in the background.
5. Drive Back to Thimphu : After a fulfilling day and Eenjoy the changing light over the mountains with optional tea stops along the way.
